Remember... Gilbert Henry Booth 1932-1951

Gilbert Henry Booth was born on August 14, 1932, in Nutter Fort, West Virginia, the son of Erskine and Edna Marie Nickson Booth. Gilbert, called "Gib," had three sisters and attended school at Ellamore, West Virginia.

North Korean Flyer

Gilbert enlisted in the Army in October 1949 and went to Fort Knox and Fort Campbell for basic training. After attending paratrooper school at Fort Benning, Georgia, he was sent to Korea in 1950, assigned to the 187th Regimental Combat Team. During his nine months in Korea, Pfc. Booth made several jumps behind enemy lines, his mother reported. In one of his letters home, Gib enclosed a flyer that was dropped by the North Koreans while his unit was located above the 38th parallel. The flyer urged American servicemen to request an end to the war in Korea.

On May 28, 1951, Private First Class Gilbert H. Booth was killed in the area of Inge, Korea.
